This program originally aired October 12, 1994 on 90.7 FM KSJS, San Jose. We speak with Marie Davis from the San Mateo NAACP and the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America (N'COBRA) about the proposed congressional resolution commonly referred to as HR40. In honor of our brother featured on the show Rafiq Bilal, Dj Ragesouljah remixed this historic show in time for Black August. The Last Black Hero (Kweku) speaks with Bay Area giant Rafiq Bilal who created the Upper Room and Nu Upper Room that provided a space for young people to gather and explore arts, activism, and social justice. While we morn the loss of our elder, youth advocate, freedom fighter, and loving father, we were truly blessed to have had the opportunity to speak with him on this important topic.

Our conversation explores this controversial subject and looks at several aspects from why reparations are necessary, to successful techniques used by other groups that have received reparations, and various forms of payment.
The Upper Room SF today "Many of the our greatest artists got their start and/or were shaped at the Upper Room- Goapele, Martin Luther, Saul Williams, Mohammed Bilal, Kimiko Joy, Will Power, Midnight Voices, Michael Franti, Ledisi, Heiro, Robert Henry Jonhson, Housing Authority, etc. Mind Motion was spinning at the Upper Room years before being on KMEL." ~ Aisha Bilal
