On October 13, 2001, Chairman Omali Yeshitela, of the African People’s Socialist party came to a rally in San Fransisco to speak to the community. Boots Riley of the Coup and M1 of Dead Prez also gave a performance during the rally. On September 11, 2001 the United States suffered an attach on the Empire State when over 3,000 people lost their lives when two commercial airline planes caused three buildings to crumble into heaping piles of smoldering rubble.
In the days after the attack, the executive and legislative branches of government proceeded to pass the most aggressive legislation challenging many of the ‘so-called freedoms’ the United States citizens have enjoyed since the Bill of Rights.
In spite of the fact that many people had suffered harsh punishment for questioning the motives of the attach; masses of people continued to come out and support the opposition to the new regulations, laws and wars that were opportunistically enacted because of the events.
